Members of the finance team got their hands dirty for a good cause last week when they volunteered for the North Glasgow Community Food Initiative (NGCFI)
The NGCFI aims to empower local people and communities to undertake practical and sustainable food-related activities to improve their health and well-being. As well as running affordable fruit and veg markets and delivering to local schools and organisations, the charity also runs healthy cookery courses for local people and school children and encourages communities to grow their own produce.
As part of the gardening programme, the finance team went to an allotment in Milton to help prepare the area for the warmer months by clearing away winter debris, laying new pathways, sanding down and painting any wooden structures and helping to create space for a new compost heap. The allotment is used by local people looking to grow their own fruit and veg, as well as local school groups to help educate kids on the benefits of gardening and sustainable food sources.
A huge well done to the finance team for giving up their time to support such a worthwhile cause which benefits our local community.
