A huge well done to our London team who took part in this week’s CALM Cup, a five-a-side football tournament organised by the hospitality industry in aid of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
CALM is a charity leading a movement against male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK.
Twenty teams took part, including our very own Roku Rovers and Maker’s Markers! The teams were split into four groups of five, with two progressing through to the knock-out stages.
The Rovers and Markers were drawn in the same group, allowing them to meet head-to-head in a thrilling 3-3 draw. The Markers managed to triumphantly defeat the Yo Sushi team in the last of the group matches to take second place…where they came up against Inter Caterer and ultimately, their undoing. FC Five Guys went on to win the CALM Cup, retaining their title from 2018.
Both of our valiant teams have committed to undertaking regular practice sessions over the next 12 months to come back stronger and challenge again in 2020…
Congratulations to the Roku Rovers and the Maker’s Markers for a well-fought tournament!
The CALM Cup raised a fantastic £4000 which will go directly to supporting CALM’s front-line services.
